Cracked Xan Notum Crystal
This crystal seems to be an example of early Xan attempts to refine Notum. A large crack runs down the length of its side. It is enclosed in a sealed environmental container, presumably to preserve it for further study. It is inscribed with what may be a date.Scans reveal that the crystal in and of itself is reasonably stable and the source molecules inside would have been correctly bound. It would appear that the process of attempting to refine the crystal somehow cracked it.Jobe scientists currently postulate that the process of refining the source was something that took the Xan many decades, possibly even centuries. This crystal would appear to be an almost successful attempt at refining pure notum.
